A father and son duo created this luxe brand that was founded in 1909. After carving their name in the hall of fame of the luxury automobile industry, the brand has captured the spectrum of luxury optical along with automobiles and many other vertices that hold a significant place in the market. The inception of this sumptuous brand was by Wilhelm Maybach, a pioneer in automobile engineering and legendary visionary. He engineered the first time in automobile history, the first four-wheel with his companion Gottlieb Daimler. The team of these two legends developed high-speed internal combustion engines to use on air, water, and land. Their innovative ideas were operative in the first motorboat and motorcycle. Gradually, Wilhelm Maybach climbed the stairs of success and became “the King of Designers” in the car automobile industry.
While pursuing the passion for innovation and exclusivity Maybach was ungraded to the technical director of the company- Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft (DMG), after the death of this partner. Since he didn’t get along in this company of Daimler and started his own brand with his son, Karl Maybach in 1909- Luftfahrzeug-Motorenbau GmbH which literally means “Aircraft Engine Building Company”. Now we will move to the Golden Era of Maybach.
The Golden Era of Maybach
“To create the very best from the very best” – was the motto that kept Wilhelm Maybach expanding and becoming a pioneer in many things. The father-son duo started their journey by first renaming their company’s name to Maybach-Motorenbau GmbH which means “Maybach Engine Construction Company”. They were not cars-centric as they manufactured engines for other automobiles as well. Their innovations were used in warships and aircraft of World War I. While they were taking off on the airbase engines, the automobile industry too witnessed their excellence in classic diesel and petrol engines for Zeppelins, as well as rail cars. Why the Golden age, you ask? Their top-tier engineering and elegance in the designing of cars manufactured between 1921 and 1940 made them one of the eminent names in the automobile industry. This was therefore considered as the golden era of Maybach.
Other Turning Points of the Brand
After focusing on their mastered engineering used in warcraft and the reconstruction began from the 1940s and continued till the 1950s. The company made its return to Daimler in the 1960s and was shelved. They were in the shadows for almost 37 years, while their services were limited to marine and other industries.
The Binding of Mercedes and Maybach
The stalling sales resulted in the coming back to drive solo in the large oceans again in 1997. Their revolutionary technological advancements and state-of-the-art designing made them a regular client of Mercedes by 2000. This upgrade made them what we can call synonymous with Luxury and prevalent name, boosting extensively in massive sedans intended for the chauffeur services for the elites.
